McVities create wedding cake to save couple’s day

We all know that on a first date it’s vital you both bond over something. For most people this is films, or music, or even politics, but for Tristan and Maria the thing that sealed the deal was their mutual love of Jaffa Cakes, and years later the orange filled circular cakes still have a massive part to play in their relationship.

With just a few weeks to go until the big day the pair still had no wedding cake, but luckily McVities offered to construct a huge wedding cake made up of hundreds of Jaffa Cakes after seeing a post by the pair voicing their love for its cakes.

The cake was made using almost 1000 Jaffa Cakes, consisted of three tiers and was designed by Paul Courtney, who created Prince William’s ‘Groom Cake’ for his 2011 royal wedding to Kate Middleton.

The gesture from McVities is nice to see, helping a couple out on their day, and also from a PR point of view it’s excellent. The stunt is interesting, relevant and further improves McVities’ already gleaming brand image.
