Old Spice, New Tricks
By Adam Driver on Thursday, January 23, 2014
Well this is my first stab at PRexamples (something I’ve been a fan of for quite a while), and I’m pleased to say I’ve found a corker! Old Spice (which, if you are too young to remember, was something your dad used) have continued on their trajectory to viral stardom, with a clever bit of online PR-ness.
Apparently there is over 20 minutes of footage across nine fake websites (that’s lunchtime sorted then), including 100% Black Leather Sheets, Soul Patch Powder and Bargain Tattoos, and after the advert you are invited to prank a friend. I have included some images of the Push Up Muscle Shirt version here, with the link below, as it was the first one I discovered.
Old Spice, and parent company P&G (who own EVERYTHING) have done a brilliant job of re-positioning this former range of toiletries for old men, withsome clever, new-look advertising speaking directly to the consumer. Sharp, funny, witty advertising. Take a bow W&K. I may even buy some Old Spice at this rate.

PS – I’m pretty much a body double for Mustafa.
