Prayer gets a fashion facelift with Sacred Grounds and Sports Banger’s heavenly new drop

In a world of chain-store lattes and mass-produced merch, Sacred Grounds and Sports Banger are saying a collective “amen” to something cooler with Prayer Beans; a limited-edition jewellery that’s got coffee in its core, Christianity in its concept, and pure London attitude in its execution. A collaboration brought to life by the creative minds at Wonderhood Design, Prayer Beans marks one year of Sacred Grounds shaking up the church café game in Soho and it’s already converting believers.
Sacred Grounds isn’t just your average flat white stop, it lives inside the vestry of St Anne’s Church and exists somewhere between spiritual retreat and underground creative haunt. Think divine cappuccinos, drag queen blessings, and yes, a rector who used to be a puppeteer on Spitting Image. So naturally, its first jewellery drop couldn’t be anything but delightfully unholy. Picture glass coffee beans handcrafted to perfection, a brass cross with a streetwear edge, and Sports Banger’s screwface symbol woven in like scripture. The first person to snag a pair even got a live blessing from Revd Simon Buckley because sacred style deserves sacred vibes.
To mark the moment, the crew dropped a 36-page zine that’s equal parts irreverent and iconic. It dives deep into the stories behind Sacred Grounds, from its royal church roots to its radical new rhythm, with an interview between Revd Buckley and cultural journalist Tracey Kawalik that covers everything from puppetry to politics to God and good espresso.
Sports Banger founder Jonny Banger summed it up best: “I’m not a Bible banger but my mum’s faith gave her dignity in death. This one was personal. We’ve done funeral shows with KLF, artwork for The Blessed Madonna… but Prayer Beans? It’s got soul.” And with a stole-inspired scarf also dropping (liturgical drip, anyone?), this campaign proves that style and spirit aren’t mutually exclusive.
Wonderhood’s Simon Elvins calls it a “no-brainer collab between two genre-defying icons.” Sacred Grounds brings warmth, rebellion, and local soul to a city saturated with sterile cafés. Sports Banger brings cultural firepower and a refusal to play by the rules. Together? They’re preaching to the coolest congregation in Soho.
The Prayer Beans, zine and scarves are now available for purchase. No divine intervention needed, just good taste and a belief in community that doesn’t come from a corporate boardroom. BYOB. Bring your own beliefs.
