Dove shocks mothers with toxic beauty tips

Social media is becoming increasingly prominent in the lives of teen girls and much of the output increasingly toxic.

That’s the motivation at the core of Dove’s #DetoxYourFeed,” which results from a research project that finds half of Canadian teen girls are spending more time online than they do in person with their friends.

50% saying the toxic beauty guidance they’re fed through their social media streams causes low self-esteem.

The new spot called “Toxic Influence,” features group of mothers who witness the harmful advice their daughters are receiving.

The film then takes a surprising turn when themselves, appear to be dispensing the advice through the use of deepfake technology.
