Pantene tackles misgendering in salons by partnering with the Dresscode Project

By on Thursday, November 21, 2019

Research by Pantene has revealed that 93% of UK trans people have been misgendered during a salon visit with 27% say it’s happened more than once. 29% of trans people report their salon experiences as stressful.

So, they’ve partnered with the Dresscode Project – a global alliance of salons and barbershops committed to providing positive services for LGBTQ+ clients.

Together, they’re recruiting salons and stylists worldwide and supporting them with resources and training. It will enable transgender and non-binary clients to go online to find safer salons in their area.

Working with Paris Lees, brand ambassador and transgender influencer, and other figures in the community, including Angela Ponce, Travis Alabanza, and Lea T.

To kick off their initiative, they’ve created a film about their personal transition stories and the importance of identity, acceptance and hair.

They’ll also be making a 5p donation to the Dresscode Project every time the video is shared or a Pantene product is purchased at Superdrug, until 3rd December.
