LEGO launches wooden customisable figurine

By on Tuesday, November 5, 2019

Lego has today unveiled a fully customisable, wooden version of their iconic mini figurine.

The 5:1 upscaled version of the company’s instantly-recognisable mini figure, originally introduced back in 1978, is, according to Lego, ‘The Ultimate personalised expression of a LEGO icon’.

Lego is renowned for its normal sized plastic mini figures, but this giant wooden exclusive inspires creativity by allowing you to paint and dress it with other materials, or even carve away at the wood. The mini figure does have plastic hands though, so it can interact with normal Lego and hold things, so super fans can get the best of both worlds.

Although the new collectable is only available to Lego VIPs, you can become one of those by signing up for free on their website. Priced at £109.99 and just in time for the festive season, the mini figure comes with a 28-page booklet featuring a history of the wooden collectable, how and why the wooden version was made and also a few creative suggestions to help you personalise the figure for yourself.

Lego encourages those who customise the figure to showcase their creative talent on social media using the #LEGOOriginals hashtag.
