Twenty injured in LG PR stunt failure

An LG promotional event in Korea has left twenty people injured and seven in hospital after a PR stunt didn’t quite go according to plan.
The event in Seoul saw one hundred helium balloons released with the promise of a voucher for a free smart phone, worth £550, attached onto the balloons.
LG had hoped for customers to calmly wait for the balloons to fall of their own accord, unfortunately the impatient watchers had other ideas. The crowd carried weapons including guns, spears and knives to bring down the cloud of balloons.
Here’s a news piece about the stunt:

Following the disaster LG has said they will cover medical costs of the incident which has been dubbed “World War G” by regional news channels. Inevitably, a number of subsequent events have now been cancelled.
