Weather service in see-through billboard stunt

By on Tuesday, April 16, 2013

New Zealand-based weather forecaster MetService has created an ingenious way to draw attention to its real-time weather service with a bit of clever outdoor PR.

They erected a giant billboard designed to look like a web browser, complete with URL bar – the catch, however, is that the ‘screen’ is actually non-existent, showing the weather in its truest form.

One to turn heads and undoubtedly the most accurate indicator of the weather, Y&R Auckland are behind this eye-catching construction.

Although I love the concept, I can’t help wondering if it gives out the slightly contradictory message that you don’t need the internet to check the forecast. Either way, the stunt is a great inventive way to get the weather service on people’s radars.
