The Modern Family hit Twitter for series premiere

This week saw the premiere of the new series of Modern Family in the US, an ABC comedy. Alongside the double-episode season opener, the programme’s creators and cast partnered with Twitter for a live-tweet session.

For anyone not aware, the show follows the Pritchett-Delgado-Tucker-Dunphy family. The cast is comprised of the various family units; a married couple with two daughters and a son, a male gay couple with an adopted Vietnamese daughter, and an older man/younger woman couple with an emotionally over-matured son. Sounds complex, but it’s fricking hilarious.

To promote the season premiere, several cast and crew members, including producers, writers and six of the main cast, tweeted along with the episodes and uploaded photos from the set. Twitter also set up a hashtag page using #modernfamily to make it easier for viewers to follow along on their ‘companion devices’.

It’s a nice social tactic, and a decent addition to the show’s existing digital presence. Amongst other Twitter and Facebook content is the Phil-osophy, a Facebook app that showcases some of the choice quotes from character Phil Dunphy. Authorise and enjoy at your leisure.
