Oma Hilda’s Renault 4
By Stephen Graham on Wednesday, July 4, 2012
Just stumbled across this excellent bit of Facebook story telling…
Renault Netherlands wanted to promote their Facebook page with their latest campaign and with agency help developed the character Grandma Hilda and focused on her Renault 4 car.
The concept of the story was that Hilda had loved her Renault 4 but she was now too old to drive and her car was left sitting in the garage. Blah blah blah, Hilda was really nice and wanted to give her car away, so Facebook users were asked to visit the Facebook app to play virtual ‘hide and seek’ around an interactive house placing a tag where they thought the missing car key was. The person who placed a tag closest to the missing key would win the car. Lucky Facebook user.
Even better for Renault though as the campaign received 10,293 unique tags and the Facebook page increased by 27,930, which nearly doubled the number of fans.
Social Media is a great place for story telling and brands that succeed there do exactly that. Hat’s off to Renault.
