Vodafone NZ puts money on the Samsung Galaxy SIII being out of this world

The much anticipated launch of the Samsung Galaxy SIII smartphone has created a frenzy amongst the telecoms operators pushing for pre-orders of the sought after handset.

Vodafone NZ has possibly come up with the most outrageous promotional idea to get ordering, offering the chance to play Star Wars in your own Galaxy with a NZ$270,000 trip into space.

With handsets retailing at NZ$1050 (not including contract discounts), the company is banking on over 250 pre-orders just to break even.

The company claims that the value of this prize is even greater than a competition they ran to win a private jet for a week for five friends, used to launch text messaging in 1999.
