Budweiser asks UK fans to compile lyrics to a song

By on Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Wassuppppp? A pretty cool competition, that’s what! Budweiser has turned to its UK Facebook fans asking them to contribute lyrics to a new song by singer Laura Jeanne. Laura was discovered on reality TV show, The Big Time, which was produced by Budweiser, earlier this year.

Budweiser’s UK Facebook fans, of which there are over 150,000, are encouraged to submit potential lyrics through the page, until 25 May. Once the song is complete, it will be available to download for free, exclusively through the Facebook page.

Iain Newell, European marketing director for Budweiser, said: “We were inspired by Laura Jeanne’s story and believe our Facebook fans will be as well. This is why we’re continuing to support Laura Jeanne in her quest for stardom, made possible by Budweiser’s The BIG TIME. We’ve worked closely together to try and fulfil her dreams by creating a unique moment – a journey our fans will also be able to enjoy.”

I think this a pretty cool competition, but it’s not like it’s One Direction we’re talking about here. I have to say, I’ve never heard of Laura Jeanne. And why would I? The Big Time was aired on ABC, an American network. In fact, it seems the only connection to the UK is that Laura is from St Albans. Nevertheless, it might encourage some budding songwriters to ‘like’ Budweiser’s page. And it’s pretty good publicity for Laura too.
