Zombies target London commuters in anti-smoking stunt

By on Tuesday, October 1, 2013

30 ‘zombie’ actors wearing Halloween-style masks sidled up to members of the public in London last week to promote an anti-smoking campaign by HealthExpress, showing smokers what the habit could be doing to them (minus the bulging eyes/plastic finish, obvs). Startled responses were filmed, as the actors gave out information to help smokers give up:

The online clinic is offering free consultations throughout October, tying in with the NHS’ ‘Stoptober‘, an initiative throughout October promoting the message that quitting for 28 days means people are five times more likely to stay smokefree for good. The HealthExpress campaign has had some great coverage, on the likes of the Mail, Metro, Independent and more – it’d be interesting to see the uptake stats as soon as they’re available to see how beneficial the stunt actually was.
