NBA Through The Lens

Ahead of the playoffs, the NBA has launched a community-driven campaign on Twitter where fans post pictures of all the places they play and watch basketball – as well as linking other popular social channels so no matter where basketball fans hang out online, there’s a hoop for them to aim at.
“Hoops Around the World” encourages fans to tweet photos of basketball hoops near them to @NBA account / #hoops. Throughout the playoffs, the NBA will retweet standout shots before compiling an interactive world map showcasing all the submissions in time for the finals.
Pinterest and Tumblr sees them weaving in a bit of e-commerce (apparel) as well as off court content such as weird facts/stats and odd hairstyles – as you do.
All in all, a great way to enlist grassroots support to promote the NBA brand and a true amalgamation of popular social channels – linking all channels through common themes and ideas to reinforce an overall campaign message.
