McDonald’s have flipped their logo into a symbol for International Women’s Day.

A branch in Lynwood, California, switched it up in “celebration of women everywhere.”

The company has switch the logo on its Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for the cause.

When upturned, what is normally an M for McDonald’s becomes a W for women.

McDonald’s Chief Diversity Officer Wendy Lewis said: “In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants.”

The day will be celebrated in more than 100 locations across the United States with employees wearing specially-designed hats and shirts bearing the upside down logo.

Several brands, including Johnnie Walker and Barbie, have debuted products to honour the day.

A campaign by Brewdog – met with criticism.
