ASOS’ new tool shows garments on different body shapes to help online shoppers

ASOS have presented a solution to one of the major issues of online shopping – online clothing returns.
With so many types of body shapes, from pear to square, that gorgeous outfit, modelled so perfectly on the website can almost look like a different garment altogether once you try it on yourself. The result? A swift yet inconvenient trip to the post office to send it back; accompanied with a lingering sense of disappointment and irritation.
However, ASOS might be about to put an end to this. Using Augmented Reality, several items on the site are now being shown on a range of models of different shapes and sizes giving consumers a better idea of how clothes look on each body type and in turn enabling them to make a more informed choice with their purchases.
ASOS said: “We’re always testing new technology that can make our customers’ experience even better. In this case, we’re experimenting with AR (Augmented Reality) to show product on different size models, so customers can get a better sense of how something might fit their body shape”.
