Cadbury creates an automobile advent calendar
By Lydia Bryant on Friday, November 6, 2015
Today Cadbury announced that they will be creating an advent calendar out of 24 trucks, with each truck representing a traditional calendar ‘door’ that opens to reveal hidden treats.
Each truck is labelled with a number – the same as an advent calendar – 1 to 24. When that day comes, instead of being opened, the truck sets off from its place in the truck calendar in Bournville (home of Cadbury), to secret locations across the UK & Ireland – can I hear an ooOOoo.
A bit like Santa & his reindeer, when the truck arrives, the lucky consumers who are also on site, will be treated with Cadbury chocolate and other surprises.
The advent calendar is to be revealed via a television ad tomorrow (7th November), and will kick off on the 1st December, naturally, where the first truck in the advent calendar will visit a secret location and open its ‘door’ to reveal all its goodies.
Cadbury, of course, will be on hand to film people’s reactions as the branded trucks arrive at their destinations, with content available to view on television and online platforms from 5th December.
This integrated campaign is the biggest one to date by Cadbury and is being supported by creative and marketing agencies, including Golin, Elvis, PHD, Drum and RPM, and encompasses social media, PR, digital, radio, experiential and in-store.
Claire Low, marketing manager at Mondelèz International, said: “Through this ad, we wanted to capture the huge anticipation felt by consumers during the Christmas countdown.
“Cadbury has a well-loved place in family homes during the festive period, and has been bringing joy to the countdown with its advent calendars for more than 50 years. Inspired by this, we have created the ultimate advent calendar to deliver joy in a way that only Cadbury can this Christmas.”
