Direct from London Victoria: BA’s Flight Simulator hands out 673 free flights

By on Sunday, May 11, 2014

Last week saw British Airways‘ biggest ever ticket giveaway take place on the main concourse of Victoria station. 3 flight simulator screens allowed commuters to compete for free tickets to destinations including North Africa, The Caribbean, North America and the Indian Ocean.

The arcade-style game challenged players to get the highest score possible by navigating obstacles in their virtual BA 777 aircraft. Over 11 thousand people took part in the challenge – with a further 47,000 people entering through BA’s Facebook page – which awarded a winner every 15 minutes.

Creative advertising agency BBH was commissioned to set up the arcade-style game, working with JCDecaux Live. The stunt is in fact a bigger version of the campaign which originally ran in January of 2013, and this year’s winners include one lucky man who managed to get the high score that year as well!

BA don’t shy away from PR stunts and this giveaway garnered a great amount of social media activity, a high level of interaction, and a nice piece in the London Evening Standard.
