Google Maps prank brings us back to our childhood with Pokémon’s invading their mobile App.

By on Tuesday, April 1, 2014

1st of April is here and we’re most likely in for a range of fake stories and videos. With the arrival of April Fools day Google Maps has launched a  ‘job advert’ searching for their newly created position of ‘Pokémon Master’.

In the advert Google Maps created an augmented reality roughly linking to their mobile App in which prospective applicants must rise to the challenge up to the motto of ‘Gotta Catch ‘Em All‘ to be eligible for the position, with a total of 150 Pokémon’s to catch – And attesting to the fact that my youth is slowly disappearing I can confirm that the majority of the 150 Pokémon’s are not all the originals.

Even though the augmented reality depicted in the video is not as lively and colourful on the mobile App, Google has provided us with yet another (time-consuming) reason to use their product over a competitor.

To relive those child-hood days of spending hours on end catching Pokémon’s all users have to do is simply open Google Maps, tap the ‘Search’ bar and start hunting.

As an extra added feature Google’s corporate HQ has been converted into a Pokémon Center – there might be many more alterations so do leave your findings in the comments below.
