Shopping centre adds umlaut to logo after Arsenal star Mesut Özil visit

Spotting a quick PR opportunity, Brent Cross shopping centre tweeted to say it had changed* its logo ‘in honour’ of Arsenal star Özil, after a visit from the 25 year old last Thursday.

The player was spotted in Fenwicks department store, where, apparently, this guy’s ‘dumbass’ #idiot sister served him but didn’t realise who he was.

*The addition of the umlaut is obviously a mocked-up image and the stunt won’t go any further than that, but it doesn’t need to, because it’s already done the job it was intended to do: highlight quickly and casually that Brent Cross is such a great place to shop, patrons include a prestigious £140,000 a week footballer. So you should go there to spend your cashmoney too, if you want to be cool like him, obviously.

The stunt gained coverage on The Metro’s site, a few football sites and spread pretty nicely on Twitter. The original @BrentCross tweet was RTd 600+ times and the words ‘Brent Cross’ and ‘Ozil’ tweeted 550 times.
