Shloer says cheers to baby Middleton

By on Thursday, May 9, 2013

Not everyone’s a fan of the Royals, but if you feel that way and work in PR (and I know a few) you’ll want to adjust that opinion for the next few months. There’s a royal babe on the way, don’t you know, and such a thing only comes around so often.

Ladbrokes grabbed a bit of attention here on PR Examples today for their faux-photos of the Royals prepping for the babe’s arrival. But they weren’t the first to this idea, and likely won’t be the last.

Non-alcoholic drinks brand Shloer had a similar idea a few weeks back, pulling in royal snapper Alison Jackson to imagine what Kate’s baby shower might look like. Or, as the Daily Mail articulated, “The Queen scoffing cupcakes, Camilla cuddling a corgi and Pippa on the Shloer: Inside Kate's Royal baby shower”.

Personally, I think the only thing Queen Liz would scoff at is the idea of seeing Charles in her seat. But that’s just me.

Some well placed Shloer bottles ensured good coverage for the drinks brand, with pick-up including the Mail, Mirror, ABC News, Closer and Huff Po. 10 extra PR points to for getting the brand in the Mail Online’s headline to boot.

Now, does anyone know if Lizzy Duke does tiaras/crowns? There’s a pun-tactic headline begging to be printed come July.

Agency involved: Bray Leino, thanks to Rhi for the tip
